BRACELETS!!!
Yesterday at work I brought in a small container that held various friendship bracelet projects from years pasted, some finished and some not. Sam when home with two lovely new ones around her wrists and, as seen in the image below, I took the clippings from them and made rings.

Showing these little projects off at work sparked interest among the girls as how to make them. Here are a few helpful links I've been gathering over the past few months.
Purl Bee - Friendship bracelets

Honestly WTF - DIY Friendship Bracelet

Between the Lines - Button Bracelet

Honestly WTF - DIY Wrap Bracelet

Honestly WTF and Purl Bee have some of my favorite tutorials, I highly recommend losing sometime wandering through their pages.
On a side note I used to make a lot of these when I was small:

You would have thought I grew up during the depression.
I also was really into in Native Americans at the time, I did a lot of seed beading. Crafting in general was my childhood, which goes to show I haven't grown up all that much. I like it that way.

I have fond distaste for the super ciche home crafts of the forties and fifties. I got these magazines called "profitable hobbies" for my dad for fathers day. There from a local antique shop and there full of "modern" housewives making profit by selling things like clothespin dolls. And old retired men making things out of drift wood or cedar Burl wood ( i.e. Lamps, clocks). There are some truly interesting things in them too, like 6 foot inflatable rubber balls for 25 cents.
